Liam Carroll RIP

The Executive Committee, members and staff of the Irish Judo Association send their deepest condolences to the Carroll family on the passing of Liam Carroll. Liam was a valued judoka who represented Ireland in the -70 kilo division at the Munich Olympics in 1972 and competed at the World championships in Ludwigshafen in 1971 and the European Championships in London in 1974. Mr Jim Crockett from Cork City Judo Club noted Liam was a fantastic judo player and was highly regarded by those that knew him. Mr Donal Tannam noted Liam ran Dublin Judo Club in Parkgate Street in the 1970’s and 1980’s and was a great character as well as a fine judoka.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Pearl, children Audrey, Damien and David, daughters-in-law Jennifer and Ruth, son-in-law Coly, his adored grandchildren Emily, Grace, Jack, Lilly, James, Ruby and Bobby, brothers Tony and Philip, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and a wide circle of friends. We offer our deepest sympathy to his family at this very sad time.
