On behalf of the Irish Judo Association, I wish to express my deepest sympathies on the passing of Joan Kennedy Kelly.
Joan was not only a passionate advocate for archery and woman in sport, she was also a good friend to many of us in the judo community. Her warmth, energy, and dedication were truly remarkable. Even during her illness, Joan continued to give so much of herself to the sport she loved—a reflection of her incredible strength and character.
I was privileged to know Joan personally, and her kindness, sense of humour, and unwavering commitment to sport left a lasting impression on all who met her. Her loss will be felt far beyond Archery Ireland—she was a treasured figure across the wider sporting family.
To her family, friends, and colleagues, we extend our heartfelt condolences. Joan’s legacy will live on in the communities she supported so passionately.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.
With sincere sympathy,
Sylvia O’Flynn
President Irish Judo Association
