The Irish Judo Association is proud to share highlights from the Valencia New Generations Judo Camp and Tournament, held in Spain from August 9th–14th, 2025. Representing Ireland under the Women in Sport programme, coach and chaperone Grainne Murphy supported our young cadet athletes at one of Europe’s largest international judo gatherings.
Over 1,000 judoka from nearly 50 countries took part, with elite technical sessions led by Olympic legends Ilias Iliadis and Rustam Orujov.
Ireland’s female cadet athletes delivered excellent performances:
-
Eireann Murphy finished 7th, showing determination and competitive spirit.
-
Zofia Lech secured a bronze medal, demonstrating skill, tactical maturity, and resilience.
Grainne’s role as a female coach highlighted the importance of representation and leadership opportunities for women in judo. Her insights reinforced the value of mentorship, visibility, and pathways for women in coaching and refereeing.
This event marks another positive step for Irish Judo’s Women in Sport programme, with our young judoka proving their talent and potential on the international stage.
