Irish Judo’s high-performance programme took another important step forward following a demanding and highly competitive week at the Paris International Training Camp, held after the Paris Grand Slam.

Joshua Green and National Coach Ben Fletcher immersed themselves in one of the toughest training environments in world judo. With the mats filled with World, European, and Olympic medallists from across the globe, every randori provided an invaluable opportunity to test performance, sharpen skills, and raise standards.

Joshua embraced the intensity of the camp, meeting the challenge head-on and making the most of every session. Training in such an elite environment plays a crucial role in preparing athletes for the next phase of international competition and the long-term journey toward LA 2028 qualification.

Ben Fletcher – National Coach

“Weeks like this are invaluable. When you surround yourself with the very best in the world, you’re forced to raise your level. Josh stepped onto those mats ready to learn, ready to fight and ready to grow. That mindset is what will carry him forward. We’re building something strong, and this is just the beginning.”

Joshua Green

“Paris is always one of the toughest training camps of the year. With all the top nations staying on after the Grand Slam, the level is incredibly high and it makes for an outstanding week of training.

I felt the camp went really well. The sessions were tough, but that’s exactly what you want as we build towards the competitions over the next few months.

It’s also invaluable having someone like Ben in my corner — someone who’s been there and done it at the highest level. I’m grateful for his coaching and support throughout the week.”

This camp represents exactly what the Irish Judo high-performance pathway strives for: hard work, high standards, and long-term ambition. Experiences like Paris are key building blocks as Irish athletes continue to develop on the international stage.

Onward and upward. 💪🥋
