Kevinas Ramoska wins a bronze medal at Matsuru Dutch Open 2019

Fudoshin judoka attended one of the biggest and competitive junior tournaments in Europe – the Matsuru Dutch Open 2019 (1600 entries). On the first day, the club was represented by Alex Karabin U66 and Kevinas Ramoska in O90 categories respectively. Alex started the tournament off with victory over a Swedish judoka (using the sangaku jime hold) but then lost his next fight to a Dutchman getting caught twice for waza-ari and finished a tournament without opportunity to go to repechage. Kevinas won his first match by ippon (okuri-eri-jimi strangle) over a Dutchman, lost his second match to the future champion judoka from Germany and won his bronze medal contest by ippon beating a Belgian athlete in golden score. On Day 2, the juniors stepped on the mat with Richard Vaniukevich in U66 and Steven Vaniukevich in U73 both started tournaments winning their first matches. Richard then lost his second match by two waza-ari and finished the tournament. Steven won his second match over a Swedish judoka but lost his third round in a golden score to a Frenchman. He got an opportunity to fight his way for a bronze medal but unfortunately lost his fourth contest to a Dutchman. Overall,  the team gained valuable international competition experience and are back home with enthusiasm to continue working hard and improving their performances in the future.
