At the end of this month it will be 40 years since the First Women’s World Judo Championships were held in New York City, USA. The International Judo Federation will celebrate this historical event:
To commemorate both the pioneering women who participated in the competition and all of the other people involved in the event (coaches, team officials, local organisers, referees etc.).
To remember those athletes and judo family members who are no longer with us.
To examine how much women’s performance judo has progressed in the intervening 40 years.
