Press Release sent on behalf of Mr Seán Fleming, President Irish Judo Association

Danny Roche and JT Deenihan will lead Munster and Stephen McCluskey will lead Ulster in their respective Provincial Academies. These academies will be organised by the Provincial Councils under the guidance of the IJA Board. The aim of these academies is to provide players with pathway and opportunities.

Connaught have decided that they will not have one lead coach, but the coach of the club the Provincial Academy is at on any particular session will lead the session. Leinster have yet to make a decision on the route they are to follow.

Each of the Provincial Councils will provide their players the same agreed opportunity as all the other players throughout the country.

The Provincial Academies will only succeed if they are supported by the players and coaches throughout the country. It is hoped that they will provide learning opportunities for our players and also the opportunity for our association to come together in an effort to bring about a raising of standards in all areas of our sport.

More details will be released soon at the Official Launch of the scheme….
