TO All CLUBS – PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CLUB CHILDREN’S OFFICER AND DESIGNATED LIAISON PERSON RECEIVES THIS DOCUMENT

Sport Ireland – Ethic have recently updated the Safeguarding Guidance for Children and Young People in Sport and this PDF is attached for your information.

As part of the IJA’s ongoing Club Compliance Governance Policy, in June 2018, each club received their CSS statement (Child Safety Statement) to display in their clubs at their judo classes as well as a Risk Assessment based on details collated from each club in 2018.

In the coming months, the National Children’s Officer for the Irish Judo Association, Mr Maurice Cooper and IJA staff members Deirdre Leonard & Sean Crowley will be working with individual clubs with regards to their responsibilities under the relevant legislation to ensure individual clubs understand and adhere to Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport.  The Irish Judo Association will be updating their Safeguarding Policy in the coming months to ensure alignment with Sport Ireland’s Safeguarding Guidance for Children and Young People in Sport.

Club Compliance is of paramount importance and changes will be introduced in the coming months to the legal requirements & responsibilities of each club, non-compliance can have a future effect on your club if the Safeguarding Guidance for Children and Young People in Sport policies are not implemented.
