To All Clubs
As a result of the recent announcement from the Irish Government on Thursday the 21st of October 2021, the Board of the Irish Judo Association met on Tuesday the 26th of October 2021 to discuss the upcoming events scheduled in the IJA Calendar for the remainder of 2021.
The following decisions have been made:
  1. All Ireland’s 11th December 2021 – this event will be postponed for 2021. The rationale behind this decision is to safeguard our judoka with regards to the timeframe required to prepare to compete at a safe level. The Board had hoped that clubs and judoka would have had more unrestricted training available to them in advance of competing.
  2. National Grading 7th November 2021 – due to circumstance beyond our control with regards to the venue at Phibblestown Community Centre, the Association has been informed that the ETB, who run the community centre, are only permitting pods of six until February 2022. The IJA has no choice but to cancel the National Grading. All refunds will be issued as soon as possible to those who have registered already. The Grading Commission will look at the remaining dates available in the 2021 calendar to see if a replacement date can be found.
  3. Nage no Kata Course 13th & 14th November 2021 – this event will proceed. All participants who attend must be vaccinated which includes judoka, coaches and others. An appointed Covid 19 Manager from the IJA will be on site to check vaccination certificates, so please ensure you bring same with you.
  4. WIS Event Meet Megan 20th & 21st November 2021 – this event will proceed. All participants (except Under 12’s who are exempt from vaccination) who attend must be vaccinated which includes judoka, coaches and others. An appointed Covid 19 Manager from the IJA will be on site to check vaccination certificates, so please ensure you bring same with you.
  5. National Squad Sessions 31st October & 13th November 2021 – these sessions will proceed. All participants who attend must be vaccinated which includes judoka, coaches and others. An appointed Covid 19 Manager from the IJA will be on site to check vaccination certificates, so please ensure you bring same with you.
