Anthony (Anto) Clarke – RIP
The Executive Committee, the Judo Office and members of the Irish Judo Association wish to extend their condolences to the Clarke family on the passing of Anthony (Anto) Clarke. Anto started out his judo career in the infamous Parkgate Street club in 1960, he received his 1st Dan in 1963 and his 2nd Dan in 1968 whilst winning numerous National Championships, Kata Championships and British Open Championships. He was also involved in opening a judo club in Palmerstown, Co Dublin in the early 1960’s. Anto trained in London to further his judo career and in 1972, was selected to represent Ireland in Judo at the Munich Games in the Men’s Lightweight category, Anto was one of 15 Judo Olympians who has represented his country. Anto continued to practice his judo and received his 3rd Dan in 1973. We send our deepest sympathies to the Clarke family at this time.
Funeral Details
Reposing on Wednesday from 10am – 2pm at the Larry Massey Funeral Home, 341 Ballyfermot Road. Funeral to take place on Thursday morning at 11.30 am in the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Rowlagh, followed by burial in Palmerstown Cemetery.
