The Irish Judo Association Coaching commission focuses on giving volunteers within clubs the tools and resources that they need to become coaches within their clubs and to bring their knowledge and expertise to the mat side.

The IJA currently run Introduction to Judo, Level 1 and Level 2 courses in conjunction with Sport Ireland Coaching. All available coaching courses can be viewed on the Events Calendar.

The IJA Coaching Programme consists of three levels:
Intro to Judo Coaching
For participants new to coaching, volunteers who help with clubs / young coaches who are assisting experienced coaches in a supervised capacity
Level 1 Coaching
For participants wanting to become an assistant coach, to provide the ability to introduce participants to the sport of Judo in a safe, enjoyable and
progressive way. The assistant coach will have an all-round ability on which participants will base future involvement in the sport of Judo
Level 2 Coaching
For participants wanting to progress to Head Coach, to provide coaches with further abilities to coach participants in the sport of Judo in a safe, enjoyable
and progressive way. The course covers 5 areas of coaching which will allow the coach to provide specific assistance to players in those areas
