Lucy Hickson is an aspiring Judoka from Fudoshin Judo Club and is one of our Women in Judo Role Models. Lucy has competed in EJU Junior Events and has always shown an excellent display of skills. She is one to watch and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for this young star!
Lucy gave us an insight into her latest trip to Selce, Croatia where she attended an international training camp alongside fellow judoka from Fudoshin Judo Club:
“This summer Fudoshin Judo Club traveled to Selce, Croatia. This was the first event as part of our Club Talent Development Program which built a strong foundation for the upcoming season. There were more than 760 judokas, 73 teams from 26 countries in attendance. We had five girls from Fudoshin (for 4 of them it was their first international training camp). We trained twice a day and managed the load well with the help of our coach Valery Vaniukevich. The camp had women’s only sessions and that was divided into U16 and 16+. Some athletes were members of the their national teams and were preparing for IJF events such as Cadet World Championship, European championship U23 and Seniors European Cups. It was a great opportunity for all levels and ages to gain much needed randori experience. We all returned home delighted with our performances, the knowledge we acquired and the friendships we made. We are all looking forward to our upcoming events. ”
