Fudoshin Judo Club participated in the Judo Scotland Cadet Open 2018 that took place last Saturday, 10th February in Glasgow, UK.

It was a good start of the year for Anthony and Steven Vanukevich who both competed in the U66kg category. Anthony started the tournament with 3 wins by ippon over his opponents securing a place in the final. In a final he fought against a Scottish judoka and led the contest by one shido into golden score. He took a risk trying to throw his opponent with osoto-gari but got caught during transition with a shimewaza technique and lost the contest, finishing with the silver medal.

Steven also had a good tournament winning three matches leading up to the semi-final but unfortunately could not find a way to overcome the future champion from Scotland. In the bronze medal match, he applied his favorite ne-waza technique okuri-eri- jime to win his first medal in the U66 category.

Another player who competed from Fudoshin Judo Club was Kevinas Ramoska in the U90kg Category. Kevinas showed a lot of character fighting more experienced judoka but lost all of his four contests. However, he demonstrated some nice judo working well in his kumikata and opening his opponents for most of his attacks.

The next day, our players took a part in the Open randori sessions, where over 100 judoka attended. It was great having participated in the tournament and having gained valuable fighting experience.
